The 24th year of Alaska Summer Band classes will be August 3,4,5,6,10,11,12,13 with a concert at the Alaska Zoo on evening of August 13. Classes will be held at St. John United Methodist Church (previously held at the Music Man).

Classes offered below. $100 dollar discount for one student taking both the Advanced and Improvisation classes. Summer Band students should consider also taking the Jazz/Rock improvisation class to prepare for jazz band in school. Also, students playing a non-traditional jazz instrument should consider playing a jazz instrument (clarinet learn to play saxophone, horn or baritone player learn trombone...).
6-7:15pm Summer Band for usually for incoming 7th graders and beyond who want to play fun movie and rock music and improve as a player. One year of band instruction prerequisite.
7:15-8:15pm Jazz/Rock Improvisation. You learn how to master the fundamentals in Summer Band and this class builds on that by learning to improvise using various jazz and rock grooves. Perfect for those who want to play and excel in jazz band.
Tuition goes to a donation to St. John's, t-shirt production and rising insurance costs. Please contact Rick Zelinsky if you need tuition assistance. Rick grew up largely by his mother working three jobs and wants to do whatever he can to help single mothers.
